Thank you to Anne and Kim for organising the fair.

Pets day

It was a fabulous day and the weather was kind to us.

Daffodil Day

Every year we hold a dress up day to raise money for the Cancer Society in Masterton.
This year was another great year with Yellow kids for as far as you can see.
Well Done Tinui School. You look awesome!

Dance Splash 2010

On Monday 16 August we traveled down to Wellington to perform in the Young Peoples arts festival.
We performed really well and we were really impressed with all the other performances too.
Thank you very much to all the parents and family who came down to support us on the night.
Here are some photos.

Adventure Race

Last week we entered two teams into the Year 7 & 8 adventure race.

This was a new event for our school. Adventure racing involves teams completing lots of challenges and tasks - some of them known and some of them surprises.

Hanna, Kura and Emma entered The "Tui Mato" team and enjoyed biking through lots of mud. They came 14th

Morgan, Gus and Guy entered as the Tinui "Coasties" came first.

We are really proud of both teams as they used team work, persistence and accuracy to compete in this event.

Well Done

Piano Concert

Today we held our piano concert!

Mr Caldwell our piano tutor works with 9 students every Monday and at the end of each term they perform to the whole school and any parents who come to watch.

This term Count Von Musica lead our performance.

We are very proud of our piano students. We also had Paige, Raiden and Miss Hutchings sang a Justin Bieber song.

Well done.

Cross Country

Last week Tinui School hosted the rural schools Cross Country.
Thankfully the weather was kind to us - if a little cold.

All the children ran really well - giving it everything they had.

This week 19 students are going to represent the school at the Interzone Cross Country at Rathkeale College.
We are very proud of our children and hope that they do well.
Our Cross Country was muddy and great and our hill climb claimed a few shoes!
Thank you so much to our parents who put on a great BBQ and a lovely afternoon tea.

ANZAC DAY

Anzac day is very special in our community as Tinui held the first ever ANZAC service in New Zealand.
Each year there is a special service held at the community hall and students from the school are chosen to speak. This is a huge honour and we are proud of them.

This year the classes have learned more about ANZAC day through books and artwork and discussions.

We have had a great start to the term.

Room 4 EOTC

The term has come to an end and just before it ended the senior room took part in their camp.
This year it was based locally and consisted of learning to surf, cooking on hobo stoves, team challenges, rock climbing, kayaking, low and high ropes course, caving, a flying fox and camping out then tramping.
We got to share the week with lots of our parents and we had an awesome time and learned lots about challenging ourselves.
A huge thank you to all the parents and helpers who made the week such a great one.

Here is a slide show of our first day which was learning to surf at the gap at Castlepoint. Miles Ratima who is a surfing champion, was our tutor. As you can tell we really enjoyed it.

Golden Shears 50th Jubilee

As part of the Golden Shears celebration there was a competition to decorate a sheep. Tinui School took on the challenge and had a go.
We herded the sheep into town on the Saturday morning and then paraded them through the main street.
A couple of prizes were won.

Well Done everyone and especially Miss Butler who organised it.

Rural kids Day 1

Today the Year 7 & 8 students combined with Wainuioru and Whareama to complete a day tramp.
Mr Cameron lead the way and took us from Mauriceville west over to Mount Bruce.
It was a challenging day with lots of up hill climbs and most of the walk being in the bush.

The sun was shining and the view from the top was amazing. Thank you very much for a great day.
Check out some of the photos.

Meet the Teacher and Duathlon

Last night we held our yearly Meet the teacher afternoon. This year we decided to combine the afternoon with our yearly duathlon.
This is where the children compete in a run, swim, run. All the children did really well and we had lots of parents there to cheer us on.
Next year we might include a parent and child race and maybe even complete a triathlon.

Welcome

Hi everyone
Welcome to our school blog.
Check this page out regularly to see what has been happening at our school.
We are a small 3 classroom school about 40 minutes east of Masterton in the North Island of New Zealand.
We have lots of lovely grounds to play on and we enjoy being in the outdoors.
